Finding a care home for someone you love can be emotional and daunting. Things change quickly and it can be difficult to know what the right solution is. Hanning Homes has recently been set up by Charlie Vaughan-Lee (me!) to help make this process better.

The Old Vicarage, which is in Moulsford, has a long history in providing world class residential and dementia care, and until quite recently nursing care too. We plan to re-introduce full nursing care soon.

Many of the amazing team have been at The Old Vicarage for over 10 years, and a handful for over 20 years. The teams commitment to, and expertise in, caring for our residents is humbling. It is this amazing foundation that I building on by investing in a number of areas.

In addition to a full redecoration of the home, we are adding to all aspects of life at the home, from hiring a new head chef and teaming them up with our wonderful specialist nutritionist to creating a new specific dementia co-ordinator role to renovating and individualising our laundry service to teaming up with our wonderful local schools to support our brilliant activities and events program.

We are building a care home based on what I would want for my own parents. Wonderful care that is built specifically around my Mum or Dad, delivered in a warm, friendly and homely environment that makes them, me and my sister’s feel comfortable that they are in the right place. Anne loves popping out for a walk around our lovely grounds and I very much enjoying hearing about her career and friends, many of whom pop in to see her.
